If I had a penny for every time I was asked which stomach exercise would burn off the fat from the midsection I would be happy kid, chillin on an island somewhere. Unfortunately I have to be the bearer of bad news - spot reduction or burning of subcutaneous (under the skin) fat from a single site is pure myth, its just not physiologically possible. When burning off fat you release hormones throughout your blood stream and breakdown fat from all over your body.

People tend to overcomplicate everything, working out and losing weight included. It really is very simple. Ive been training people for over 12 years and have boiled down all the information to this:
1. Take time to relax and de-stress. Stress can be a killer and it will pile on fat to your belly.
2. Eat good foods, natural foods that man didnt create, like vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, organic meats, eggs, water and herbal teas. The more we alter it, RUN!
3. Get off your butt and move! Doesnt have to be in the gym either...just get outside and move. Play a sport, go for a hike, surf, swim, lift weights, go sailing, whatever! Just dont sit at a desk all day, drive home and sit in front of the boob tube.
4. Recover and take care of yourself. Get a massage, meditate, sit in a hot tub, a sauna, etc. Active recovery will help you feel better and look better fast!
5. Get someone to workout with. A partner or coach that can motivate and hold you accountable during these changes. This stuff isnt hard, it just takes consistency....and we all have days that we dont feel like doing it. Get a partner that is solid!

I always advise my clients that without cardio together with resistance they cannot reduce their body fat. Many of my clients have strong muscles but until they change their eating patterns - they are "healthier by working out" but they won't have the full benefits.
Eating good foods is the paradigm shift - I like to say "first class foods" - we grew up with fast food being a treat - we must change that thinking pattern. Natural foods are first class foods.

Good advice. You definitely need to have an active life. Eating healthy while being a couch potato is not going to cut it.
